Day 1New YorkNew York, NY : Depart on our overnight flight to Munich. Dinner and breakfast served on board.
Day 2AltottingMunich/Freising/Altotting : Upon our arrival in Munich we are met by our guide and bus driver and assisted through the airport formality. We then board our bus to start our sightseeing. Our first stop today will be Freising where Pope Benedict studied at the University of Theology and was ordained at St. Mary's Cathedral. From here we drive to Altotting dinner and over night in Altotting. (D)
Day 3NeuottingAltotting/Marktl/Neuotting : Our sightseeing begins with Altotting Germany's most famous Marian Shrine, receiving over a million pilgrim each year. Home to the â??Black Madonnaâ? the town is referred as the â??Heart of Bavariaâ? and the Chapel of Grace, a small building in the Baroque chapel square, is its spiritual center. We will also, visit St. Konrad monastery and St. Anna Basilica in Altotting. We cap our tour with a visit of the monumental cyclorama "Jerusalem-Panorama Crucifixion of Christ" (1903) in Altötting This afternoon we drive to Marktl, this market town is the birthplace of Pope Benedict XVI you will see the church where he was baptized on the day he was born on Easter Saturday, 1927. We return via Neuotting to Altotting for Dinner and overnight. (B,D)
Day 4PrienPrien : Today we make a lovely journey to Prien at Lake Chiemsee where we will visit the Fraueninsel, including the cloister church. Continue to Herrenchiemsee island. Herrenchiemsee is the largest island in the "Bavarian Sea". and is famed for the palace built by Bavaria's e legendary King Ludwig II. The royal palace, fountains and the palace grounds were modeled on Versailles. Leisure time this afternoon and dinner at our hotel in Prien. (B,D)
Day 5MunichOberammergau /Munich : After breakfast we depart for Munich. En route, we will visit Wieskirche. Upon arrival in Munich, participate in a guided city tour of the city including the Old Town and the Church of our Lady (Liebfrauenkirche). The balance of day will be at leisure. Dinner and overnight at our hotel (B, D)
Day 6OberammergauOberammergau : Enjoy breakfast this morning before continuing to Oberammergau. Our Catholic faith comes alive in the enactment of the Passion of Christ, performed every ten years since 1634. Attendance of this play will be the highlight of our visit to Bavaria. Dinner this evening at your hotel. Overnight in Oberammergau (B,D)
Day 7New YorkNew York, NY : Breakfast at the hotel prior to check-out and transfer to airport for our return flight home. Arrive U.S. same day.
